DALHOUSIE (CNB) - The provincial government and the Port of Dalhousie are joining forces on an infrastructure project for the port's west wharf. Premier Shawn Graham made the announcement today.
"Building infrastructure capacity to attract investment to the region is one the objectives set out in the Action Plan for Self-Sufficiency in Northern New Brunswick," said Graham.
Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault and Réal Savoie, vice-chairman, board of directors, Port of Dalhousie, also participated in the announcement.
"The Port of Dalhousie is pleased to contribute to the implementation of the Action Plan for Self-Sufficiency for Northern New Brunswick," said Savoie. "This infrastructure improvement will serve the port authority in its quest for adding jobs in the Restigouche area."
Under the Northern New Brunswick Infrastructure Initiative, the provincial government is investing $3.1 million in an infrastructure project at the west wharf. The project calls for land preparation, installation of a belt-conveyor system and development of a loading dock to accommodate a fenced-in storage area.
